Ostia Antica

Treat yourselves to a well deserved-break from the often over crowded and narrow streets of Rome, and visit the beautifully preserved ruins of Ostia Antica, once a Roman Harbour town; also known as “The Better Pompeii”.

The site is known for the excellent preservation of its ancient buildings, magnificent frescoes and impressive mosaics which tell the story of daily life in ancient Rome, dating from 6th century BC to 6th century AD. Whilst strolling amongst the beautifully preserved taverns, baths, apartments, shops and bars you will feel as though you are walking with the ancient Romans themselves. An absolute must is the well preserved Amphitheatre, which could contain up to 3500 spectators at one time.

At the end of the tour you can stay in Ostia Antica and enjoy a pic-nic under a cool umbrella pine, or ask our friendly and helpful guide to show you how to get to the picturesque town and beaches of Ostia. To many it may even com as a surprise that the coast is only a stone’s throw away from the heart of the city.
